Like our African Studies minor, the African Studies certificate offers a broad, interdisciplinary understanding of the African continent. But, it also requires that you gain a more in-depth knowledge of Africa as it relates to at least one discipline and one of its languages.

Our certificate provides a background for careers in foreign service, government, business, law, the academic world, and other areas. It complements majors in many departments and professional schools throughout the university.
