AFRI-L232: Contemporary Africa

AFRI-L232

Course Description

What does contemporary Africa look like? What are major issues that the continent faces today? Why does Africa matter and how is it linked to the United States and elsewhere? What are the daily lives of Africans like? These are some of the questions that are explored in this class. The course is updated each time it is taught, to reflect the rapidity of change and of news coming out of this immense continent. The class is interdisciplinary in nature and will introduce students to these topics through readings, field trips, and films.
