African Studies Program

Avenel Rolfsen is pursuing a Ph.D. student in History and an African Studies Ph.D. minor. She is a recipient of multiple Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships (FLAS) to study Wolof in Dakar, Senegal, as well as academic year FLAS's to continue her advanced study of Wolof. Additionally, Rolfsen was one of the organizers of the 2018 Graduate Students in African Studies Symposium.
