Former anti-apartheid and anti-colonial activist, educator, scholar and Presidential Fellow in Peace Studies at Chapman University, Dr. Rozell "Prexy" Nesbitt, will speak at the IU ASP event, Transnational Solidarities: Black Lives Matter & Human Rights Movements in Africa. Dr. Nesbitt will situate BLM international movements in the context of a long history of transnational dialogue between African and African American human rights activists. He will be joined by HLS's own Salina Tesfagiorgis, President of the IU African Students Association, a student activist and BA/MA student in Human Rights and International Law. The panel will also feature Dr. Eric Kyere of IU Indianapolis's School of Social Work and the Center for African Studies. Dr. Kyere's work focuses on supporting communities who face systemic racism, and is a Ghanaian scholar with interests in BLM activism in Ghana and beyond.
