About Dana Vanderburgh

Dana is a Ph.D. student of Social-Cultural Anthropology with a minor in African Studies. Her academic research is focused on learning how the arts (particularly dance) can be used for youth empowerment and building positive relationships. Her passion for the arts and community engagement has led her to do research and arts outreach and advocacy in communities around the US, the Republic of Panama, Ghana, and Canada. She is currently researching how the arts can help youth respond to the environmental and social impacts of large-scale development projects in Ghana and Northern Canada.
