M.A., African Studies

An M.A. in African Studies provides a broad understanding of the African continent, along with the opportunity to become an expert in an area of your interest. This program offers flexibility to tailor coursework to your needs and interests while requiring you to develop competence on a topic or region, research methods, and achieve intermediate proficiency in an African language.

An M.A. in African Studies is ideal for students who wish to pursue careers in government, international relations, international development, business, or a professional field, as well as those who wish to continue graduate work in a discipline. You must complete 30 approved credit hours in order to finish this program. It typically takes two years to complete.
