Emily Stratton is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Religious Studies Department. She joined Indiana University in 2013 after receiving an MA with honors in Religious Studies and Certificate in African Studies from the University of Kansas as well as a BA in Religion from Pacific Lutheran University. Supported by a Fulbright-Hays DDRA Award and a research affiliation in the Department of Sociology at the University of Ghana, Emily conducted extended ethnographic research in Accra, Ghana throughout the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 academic years. She continues to reside in Accra while writing her dissertation, "Popular Pieties: Young Men, Digital Media, and Religious Form in Urban Ghana."
